Thanpuying Sumalee Chatikavanij was born on June 6, 1931. Her maiden name is Yuktasewee. She is married with Professor Dr. Kasan Chatikavanij, a former President of Mahidol University.

She has one daughter who is Khun Ying Kasama Worawan Na Ayuthaya. Her daughter is a former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and a former Secretary of the Basic

Thanpuying Sumalee was a chairman of the CCF Foundation from 2000 to 2008 and a former honorary advisor to the Foundation.

Honor

Thanpuying has throughly performed her duties with serious efforts, diligence, virtue, knowledge and ability to help Thai soicieties and the nation. As a result, she has received several honorable awards, such as The Honourable Order of King Rama V in 1961 with a prefix of "Khun Ying" and The Honourable Order of King Rama V in 1990 with a prefix of "Thanpuying" since then.
